How can I change the number of team members or contact information that I registered with?

You can login and use our edit form to update your number of team members or your address if either of these have changed since you registered. It is important to keep both accurate for when prizes and incentives will be sent out. Keeping your email address accurate is extremely important to receive regular updates and important information from SNA.

I am not an SNA member. How do I register my team?

Only SNA members can be a team leader. Please find an SNA member who is willing to be the point of contact and the team leader for SNA. You can work with this person to jointly motivate team members and track points if you wish. Alternatively, you can become an SNA member by joining at www.schoolnutrition.org and experience the many benefits that SNA has to offer.

I would like to join a team. Can you help me find one?

This program is designed to promote personal wellness among individual participants and teams at the school level. We encourage you to find other SNA members at your school who are interested in forming a team with you. If you have a very small school or no other SNA members at your school are interested, you may wish to join another team within your district.

Can I be a team all by myself?

SNA recommends that teams have more than one person. Teams must have 2 or more members in order to be eligible for final prizes. This program emphasizes meeting personal goals as well as team goals. Social support is important to success when making changes in nutrition and physical activity behaviors. It is okay to join a team at another school in your district if you are unable to form a team at your school. If you really would like to participate in the program as an individual, you may do so. However, you will not be eligible for final prizes.

How many people can be on a team?

There is no limit to the number of people on your team. However, there can only be one team per school and one Team Leader per team. Teams that are larger than 20 people may be difficult to manage, so SNA recommends that teams be between 2 and 20 people.

I am the only SNA member at my school. What should I do?

If your school is very small or if there are no other SNA members in your school, this would be a great opportunity to encourage teachers or other staff in your school to participate on your team.. You may also wish to simply join another school’s team. Alternatively, you may need to form a team with other SNA members in your district. In this case, choose a team leader at the district level and register one team for the entire district. Choose one school name from your district to indicate on the registration form.

I am an SNA member, but I work in a central office or central kitchen. Can I participate? Can I be a team leader?

SNA members that do not work in a central office or central kitchen can still participate in the program by joining a school or district team. Points earned by those members can be included in the team total. Prizes for the team will be awarded to the school or district as applicable. Alternatively, a team can be formed at the central office or central kitchen in addition to other school-based teams in your district. However, an individual school must be designated on the team registration form so that the milk merchandiser can be awarded to a school should the team win.

Any SNA member may be a team leader as long as the team is identified as belonging to a school and district. The prizes will be awarded only to schools and districts.

I am an SNA member, but I work at a state agency? Can I participate? Can I be a team leader?

Teams can be formed at the state agency. This can be an effective way to motivate schools in your state to participate in the program. However, a school and school district do still need to be identified on the registration form so the final milk merchandiser can be awarded to a school should the team win. The points earned by the team would be credited to the district identified for consideration for the overall winning district.

Any SNA member may be a team leader as long as the team is identified as belonging to a school and district. The prizes will be awarded only to schools and districts.

What if my ethics policy prohibits receiving gifts?

If you would like to form a team and participate in the program, but are not able to receive the incentives due to an ethics conflict, please just let SNA know at snf@schoolnutrition.org and we can remove your team from the mailing list for incentives. The monetary value of incentives per person is $10.

I have a colleague at school that would like to participate but is not an SNA member. Can my colleague join our team?

Non SNA members can participate with you and use all of the program resources and goals, however, they can not be Team Leaders because an SNA username and password are required for team registration.

Can I join a team after the team has already registered or after first phase has already started?

New members can join a registered team at any time. When a new team member is added to a registered team, the team leader will include that person’s points in the team total and adjust the total number of team members accordingly.

What if a member of my team decides to stop participating in the program?

The member’s points for previous weeks will still apply toward your team totals. After the team member stops participating, the team leader will not include the member’s points in the team totals for future weeks, and will adjust the number of team members for reporting. Team members that are no longer participating will not receive incentives or be eligible for final prizes. The incentives will be sent to the team leader based on the number of active team members indicated in the final reporting entry at the end of each phase.

I would just like to create one team for my entire district and manage it from the central office. Can I do that?

SNA recommends that teams include no more than 20 members for ease of managing the team. If you choose to create a team for the entire district, please be mindful that large teams may be difficult to manage. Also, districts must have three participating teams in order to be eligible for the overall district prize. If your district chooses to have just one team, you will not be eligible for the $5,000 prize. As an option, you may wish to designate three Team Leaders to manage three separate teams then divide team members as you wish. Please just be sure to identify a school name and the district for each team so that the milk merchandiser can be awarded to a school should a team win.
